  • March 2016 – Kulsum Tai was awarded Great Distinction, as well as an award for her project in the Hydro Quebec Montreal Regional Science and technology Fair. Kulsum’s goal of her project was to determine experimentally if high levels of amyloidosis in the brain can lead brain metabolism to decrease using FDG-PET scanning, by using both human and rat test subjects. The results were found, showing low FDG uptake in Aβ positive rat and human subjects, demonstrating a decrease in metabolism, and higher FDG uptake values in Aβ negative subjects.
